The
Residency - Accommodation in
Port Alfred, Eastern Cape is a gracious turn-of-the-century
wood and iron settler home situated on the Sunshine Coast midway between
Port Elizabeth and East London, in the picturesque and serene coastal
village of Port Alfred. This 1898 home with its polished Oregon wood
floors has been beautifully restored and has been furnished with
colourful fabrics and period cottage pieces. Lovely shuttered bedrooms
are en suite and true Eastern Cape warmth and hospitality extends
throughout.

Guests
staying in The Lemon Room in the south-west corner of "The
Residency" can savour a complimentary sherry in a cosy private
lounge. This room the biggest in this splendid home, has a queen size
bed and a Victorian ball and claw bath and shower en-suite. The Peach
Room, neatly tucked behind the Lemon Room, boasts twin luxury beds and
en-suite facilities including a shower. The bathroom leading off The
Green Room in the north-west back corner of "The Residency" was
the main bathroom of the original home and is complete with original
Victorian ball and claw bath and has Victorian bedsteads. Guests in The
Burgundy Room, the only room on the east side of "The
Residency", will not only enjoy the morning sun but also a queen
size bed, en-suite facilities and shower.
There
are beautiful views looking seaward over the valley from the
wrap-around veranda and the secluded and tranquil garden is home to
over 40 different species of bird life. Binoculars and bird
identification books are at hand to further enhance this experience,
particularly early morning and late afternoons (when they come home to
roost) while enjoying coffee, tee or sundowners. We offer access to
the following activities
- Deep sea fishing on licensed ski boats (for beginners and
experienced fisherman)- Informal guided beach drives by 4 X 4-
Panoramic Scenic coastal flights along the coastline in a light
aircraft- Mountain Bicycle hire, horse trails, canoeing and hiking
