Set
in beautiful indigenous fynbos gardens, each of the four cottages has 2
seperate en-suite bedrooms. High vaulted ceilings keep them cool in
Summer. Coffee and Tea facilities are provided. The bathrooms are done up
with hand made ceramic handbasins and crafted brass showers. 6 of the 8
rooms have baths and showers, the other 2 have Victorian baths. The
shared verandahs all boast majestic views over the valley and out to the
Langeberg mountains. Short walks take you through the gardens to the olive
groves, secluded swimming pool and fishing dam, as well as to the
adjoining nature reserve.
The
family run lodge hosts peaceful getaways, romantic weekends, tailor-made
weddings and private conferencing. They pride themselves in unique
arrangements for all occasions. Spend lazy days wine tasting, bird
watching, horse riding and hiking. Explore 4x4 trails, fishing holes and
river trips. Take a massage in there therapy room or revel in nothing but
birdsong and mountain air. At the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve you can
encounter the birdlife of the region. And here, permits are available for
the stunning Boesmanskloof Hiking Trail. The trail, 14 kms in length,
starts south of McGregor and leads through the Riviersonderend Mountains
up to Greyton, coming across waterfalls, crystal-clear rivers, wildflower
carpets and fynbos landscape. Calculate 6 hours for the hike and perhaps
stay overnight in Greyton.
