Franschhoek The
Garden House Accommodation in
Franschhoek, Western Cape, built in Cape Victorian
style in 1881, is listed as a building of historic interest. In 1910
it was known as Bellevue and used as a guest house by Mr and Mrs C van Hoogstraten who
promised'cleanliness and unobtrusive attention'.The spacious and romanic
Courtyard Room withen-suite bathroom and original rustic log beams is in a separate
cottage which has been lovingly renovated and
restored.

It
has air conditioning, a ceilng fan, TV, video, radio,fridge, UK/Euro socket and tea tray and the bathroom has underfloor
heating and heatedtowel rails.In the main house there is a delightful room with an authentic
Victorian brass double bed (standard size), dressing room and en-suite bathroom.
Breakfast is served in the secluded courtyard between the cottage and
the main house in the shade of a magnificent camphor tree with wonderful views across
the valley to the Groot Drankenstein and Franschhoek Mountains.
You can ride
their bikes, stroll to the village centre with its shops,
galleries and restaurants, visit the Huguenot Memorial, the Museum, play golf, go
horse riding, hiking, fishing, wine tasting or just relax by
the pool.they know the importance of personal attention in making
their guests feel
welcome and at home. they look forward to your visit and a sundowner with you on the
stoep of The Garden House.Franschhoek (Afrikaans for French Corner) was settled by French
Huguenot refugees in the 17th century. It keeps the French connection with many excellent
restaurants (some are regularly in South Africa's EAT OUT national or regional Top Ten),
wine estates, art galleries and an annual celebration of Bastille Day.
