Imagine
sitting above a 30-metre waterfall, with breathtaking views of a river
gorge and the wild Indian Ocean. This is the setting of The Fernery
Lodge. It’s hard to decide whether to admire the incredible
surroundings from the Lodge’s deck area with the swimming pool,
Jacuzzi, sauna and gym, or to enjoy it from any one of our six deluxe
suites. Each suite is tastefully decorated and every effort has been made
to ensure our guests’ comfort, from DSTv and an en-suite bathroom to a
private deck with beautiful views. For complete opulence, try The
Honeymoon Suite with its luxurious spa bath. The Fernery Chalets offer
both B&B or self catering options. B&B chalets sleep 2 in either
twin or king-size luxury, whereas the self-catering chalets sleep 4 and
have fully equipped kitchenettes, making them ideal for families. All the
chalets are beautifully decorated and each chalet has a unique theme
inspired by its magnificent surroundings. Enjoy the tranquillity of the
mountains and forests from the privacy of the sheltered decks or curl up
in front of the fireplace with a good book.
If
you ever tire of gazing at the view, which we doubt, the Fernery and
its magnificent surroundings offer an endless array of activities.
Amble down to the nearby dam and take the rowboat in a quest to spot
all 110 species of our resident birds. Or simply use it to enjoy a
round of sundowners. The more active can use their time to smell the
fynbos on one of the many hiking trails for which this area is famous.
And if you\'re set on conquering the mountains, pick up a mountain
bike and start the challenge. The breathtaking Tsitsikamma National
Park is just minutes drive away with swimming and great hikes.
Tsitsikamma National Park is also Africa's oldest and largest marine
reserve, playing a vital role in the preservation and conservation of
marine fauna and flora. Tourists, and particularly hikers, from all
over the world visit Tsitsikamma and Storms River Mouth for its
rugged, unspoilt coastline – a photographer's dream. Tsitsikamma has
many wonderful scenic hiking trails of which it is justifiably proud.
