A major attraction is our working harbour where visitors can see the wooden fishing boats used to catch the fish that are then served in restaurants country-wide. Other attractions include our beautiful and safe bathing beach, art galleries, our Sunday craft market on the village green, windsurfing, paddle skiing, surfing, horseriding, cycling, hiking, deep-sea fishing and scuba-diving. Speciality shops, curio shops, upmarket convenience stores and book shops offer a wide selection of goods.

The holiday resort of Hout Bay is positioned centrally in the Western Cape to form the ideal base from which to visit the Cape Peninsula tourist attractions as well as the Constantia, Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek Winelands. Central Cape Town, Table Mountain Cableway, the famous V&A Waterfront, the Robben Island ferry, the Waterkant Village and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, are just a 20 minutes drive away. There are excellent facilities to pursue a very wide range of activities from the most adventurous to the most relaxing. These include: Abseiling, Horse riding, spectacular hiking and cycling trails, bird watching at "World of Birds", Game Fishing, the whole gamut of aquatic sports, Sunset Champagne cruises, Boat trips to Seal Island and even Whale Watching. The list is virtually endless and for the less energetic it is a simply wonderful spot to relax, sip a glass of good South African wine, soak up the sun on some heavenly wind-sheltered beaches and just enjoy the great gifts of life.
