We offer two romantic hideaways for couples and our family cottage which can sleep 6-8. Sunbird Guest farm is an hours drive away from Johannesburg and Pretoria where, separating the bustle of Gauteng city life from the serenity of the African bushveld, lies the Magaliesburg, a place where human history dates back to the beginning of mankind. Here you can discover an area rich in flora and forna, genuine hospitality and a chance to relax and get away from the stresses of city life.

3 cottages

There are three self-catering cottages on the farm: our family cottage sleeping six to eight people in three large bedrooms, lounge/dining room, full sized kitchen, separate toilet and shower room and two "romantic hideaways" for couples complete with four poster beds. The cottages all enjoy garden settings with their own stoep and braai facilities and are tastefully decorated and fully equipped with all the necessary linen, crockery, cooking utensils and equipment you need. We are happy to provide wood for the outside fireplaces which you can relax around in the evenings being lulled by the night sounds of nearby jackals and hippos whilst gazing at the clear starry night skies. We are an "AA Recommended" venue so you can rest assured that our accommodation is of a high standard.

The bird life is prolific in this area and frequent visitors include the Cape Vulture, Black Sunbirds and the Crimson-Breasted Shrike to name but a few. The walks on the farm are endless and we are fortunate enough to have examples of San Rock Engravings which your hosts, Joanna and Chris Yoxen, are happy to take you to experience. There is also a sparkling pool and Jacuzzi for your enjoyment. We are a "PET FRIENDLY" establishment and are happy for guests to bring their four legged friends with them to enjoy the countryside and walks as long as they are socialized and will interact nicely with the four resident dogs on the farm who love having "visitors" to stay. There is plenty to do in the area ranging from horse riding to fishing, hot air ballooning to browsing through the arts and crafts shops. We are also nicely situated to explore Hartbeespoort Dam (forty minutes away) or Sun City and Pilanesberg National Park (one and a quarter hours drive away). Or better still "relax and do absolutely nothing", but recharge your batteries.
