prettiest small town in South Africa, with its Karoo style Cape Dutch and
Victorian houses lining quit arboured streets, canals lead mountain water
into the lush gardens of flowers and fruit trees, a veritable oasis.

Saxe-Coburg

romantic honeymoon suite with spa bath. All rooms with satellite TV,

trays and bar fridges. The four garden rooms have stunning views to the
Swartberg mountains. There is also a guest lounge with library. After a

Wake up to birdsong and a hearty Karoo breakfast comprising local farm
fresh yoghurts, farm eggs, home made preserves and German filter coffee.
The
Swartberg pass is undoubtedly the most spectacular mountain pass in
the whole of Southern Africa. The pass which is 4km distant is kept in
good order and can be traversed with ordinary motorcars. The nearby
world renowned Cango Caves. Meiringspoort canyon with kettle spout
waterfall. Seweweekspoort canyon. The Hell, historic hidden valley in
the Swartberg mountains. Dinosaur footprints in the desert. The Town
itself is a great attraction to those who have an interest in rustic
architecture of the nineteenth century. The Swartberg national Hiking
Way trails (eight variations) Our own hike "To Hell and
back" with variations. Our own trail "The Great Karoo
traverse" incorporating a visit to the dinosaur footprints and
gold fields. Gamkapoort Nature Reserve trail, desert moonscapes. Dr.
Sue Dean’s Botanical walk. We are keen hikers and will guide
visitors on request.
