Sani Top Chalet - Accommodation

One
of South Africa's best kept secret places, Sani Top Chalet is a small
rustic establishment that boasts the highest pub in Africa at 2874m above
sea level. It is located high on the Drakensberg escarpment on the border
between South Africa and Lesotho. Sani Top Chalet is set in Lesotho,
right on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. We have accommodation
inside the chalet as well as backpackers self-catering accommodation .
There are only shared ablution facilities with no en-suite bathrooms.
Sani Top is one of the few beautiful places in the Drakensberg Mountains
where you can get to by vehicle (via the Sani Pass). Sani Top is the
highest part of the Drakensberg that can be reached with a vehicle.

The
Chalet offers comfortable accommodation in a unique adventure
stopover. Four comfortable double rooms, (some with bunks), four
rondavels as well as a spacious self-contained backpacking dorm in a
separate building , and a glowing fire in the pub and dinning room all
add to the experience, allowing one to relish at the panoramic views
of Africa and Lesotho.
The
Sani Pass - the only route up from South Africa - is only accessible via
4x4 and offers a bumpy, if not exciting trip to the chalet. Visitors will
delight in the unique alpine flora around the chalet and appreciate the
warmth of the smiling people of the Mountain Kingdom. A variety of
activities will keep visitors entertained from hiking up
Thabana-Ntlenyana (3482m) - southern Africa's highest peak, to pony
trekking and fishing. During the winter months, skiing and snowboarding
are offered, provided it snows. This remote and romantic part of Africa
is a world heritage site, the rugged mountains bearing testament to all
that have past before them.
