Petworth
Place is furnished in a contemporary, comfortable style. The bedrooms are
spacious, light and sunny - each with its own bathroom. The bathrooms are
all newly installed and most have both bath and shower - (full bathroom)
The seven elegant bedrooms include: a family suite of two bedrooms
sharing a full bathroom a romantic bridal suite, with its own balcony
overlooking the garden, with lovely tree-filled views a wheelchair
accessible bedroom with a full bathroom, and internet access a
self-catering unit - twin bedroom, full bathroom and kitchenette single
bed, twin bed and double bed bedrooms, all with own bathrooms. Each
bedroom has television (SATV and ETV channels), wall safe and heating and
fans. Top quality cotton bed linen, and luxurious towels are used in the
bedrooms and bathrooms. Every effort is made to ensure the comfort of our
guests.
There
is so much to see and do in this area and we, at Petworth Place, will
assist you to plan your visit to any of these attractions. Gunfire Hill
and the Monument to the 1820 Settlers - home of the internationally
renowned Grahamstown Arts Festival, and Sasol. Sci-Fest, to get a got
view of the city nestling between the surrounding hills. Observatory
Museum, housing the famous camera obscura, where the first diamond in
South Africa was identified. Soak up the beauty of the historical
buildings in Church Square - enjoy a quiet walk through the Cathedral of
St Michael and St George with its magnificent lead paned windows.
Familiarize yourself with culture of the peoples of the area. Take in the
Museums, International Library of African Instruments, local
witchdoctor's shop and a township tour complete with traditional Xhosa
meal. Taste the local product at the Honey Wine Brewery. Take a drive
around our excellent university and school campuses. Explore the outlying
villages of Bathurst and Riebeeck East and stunning coastal resort towns
of Port Alfred and Kenton-on-Sea, less than an hour away. Experience wild
life with a game drive at one of the many private game reserves, the Addo
Elephant Park or Great Fish River Reserve. Hiking, fishing in both salt
water and fresh water, horse trails on farms and at the coast and many
different sports can be enjoyed - including sky diving and golf at a
number of very good courses in the area.
