Oyster Bay Lodge - Accommodation in
Oyster Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa
Here’s
yet another film-set masquerading as a B&B at the
Oyster Bay Lodge in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This one is for the beach
scenes! Hans and Liesbeth have the very envy-inducing run of three and
a half kilometres of pristine beach to themselves, the fine white sand
of the dunes as pure as it is wind-driven (but for the odd monkey
footprint). They have fifteen horses, eight of which are rideable,
which roam free on the 235 hectare nature reserve.Take
time for a beach ride. But there’s more: Hans and Liesbeth have made
hiking trails from the sand dunes through the fynbos where you’ll have
a chance to see some of the 140 species of bird on their land and
maybe vervet monkeys. You could hear them, but
didn’t quite catch a glimpse.

There
are only two guest rooms in the house so your stay is very personable
and relaxing with use of the swimming pool and self-catering
facilities if you choose. Otherwise, supper could be some Oyster Bay
rump steak from their cattle farm or the fresh catch of the day. Come
here for the empty beach, the horses and walks along an unspoilt
coastline. Day-tours can be taken to nearby Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve
and Baviaanskloo
So
there's plenty to do in the area like Fishing, Horse riding, Hiking,
Mountain biking to mention some.
Oyster Bay Lodge offers a calm ‘eco-tourism’ centre of extended
nature possibilities. It is nestled between Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve
and Jeffreys Bay (world renowned surfing paradise) and is part of St
Francis Bay municipality (restaurants and shops).
