Mtunzini Bed & Breakfast - Accommodation in
Mtunzini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Set
in a spacious garden in the quaint seaside village of Mtunzini our
B&B looks out over the rolling, cane covered hills of Zululand and
enjoys breath-taking sunsets. Mtunzini is a nature lover's paradise. The
clean country air inspires even the most lethargic to venture outside and
to enjoy the environment. Home to the rare Palmnut Vulture - which feeds
and roosts in the gigantic Raphia palms - Mtunzini boasts a number of
rare and endangered species of birds which attract birders from around
the globe. As a seaside village Mtunzini is unique in that it does not
suffer from the curse of seafront development so commonly found in most
other South African seaside resorts. The uMlalazi Nature Reserve - with
its vast, unspoilt beaches; pristine mangrove swamps and dune forest
trails - has kept development back from the shore and ensures that all
can enjoy this natural heritage. For the energetic, the reserve is an
easy 15 minute walk away from Mtunzini B&B.

We
are situated in the small coastal village of Mtunzini (literally
translated: “place in the shade”). The village is situated
approximately 140 kilometers north of Durban International Airport on
route (N2) to Empangeni and Richards Bay. This route will also take you
to the renowned Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, which is about an
hour’s drive from the Guest House. We boast some of the best-kept
secrets in Zululand, like our unspoilt and pristine beaches that can be
enjoyed all year round. This also forms part of the Sibaya Coastal
Reserve. The village also boasts its own game/conservancy reserve known
as the Umlalazi Game Reserve. Access to the beach is restricted through
this reserve, which means that the beaches are private and in pristine
condition, with well-maintained facilities. For the sports enthusiasts
Mtunzini Country Club offers a 9-hole golf course with unparalleled
sea views as well as squash and tennis courts. The town also has a
very active bowling club. Both of these facilities lie within a 2km
radius of Mtunzini B&B. Encompassed in the same 2 km radius can be
found a variety of shops; pubs and restaurants for those times when a
little self-indulgence is required.
