Nestling
in the rolling sugar cane hills of Zululand is the town of Mtubatuba. An
ideal base from which to explore the rich culture of the Zulu nation and
world-renowned game reserves. The owners of Mtubatuba Bed and Breakfast
are your hosts, Dewald and Ida Scheepers. They have managed to create a
haven of shady green splendour which is secluded and private and yet just
minutes away from a major highway and the crossroads to all the tourist
attractions that Zululand and Maputaland have to offer. Only a small
number of guests are accommodated at a time in order to provide an
exclusive yet homely atmosphere, with true value-for-money comfort.

Green
Room: Cool tiled floors, ceiling fans and cane furniture set the tone
for colonial splendour. The spacious double-bedded room overlooks the
garden. The atmosphere is enhanced in the bathroom: green and white
with gleams of copper. The bathroom has both bath and shower. Blue
Room: Soft tones of blue and yellow complement antique oak furniture
in this suite. The double-bedded bedroom overlooks the garden and the
lounge has its own entrance. The bathroom has a bath and a
hand-shower. The Executive Unit - This double room of 50 square metres
has private views of the tropical garden and access from a private
verandah. The bedroom has a King size, extra length, double bed. The
bathroom is extra spacious, with a view from the bath. It also boasts
his and hers washbasins, a separate shower, toilet and bidet. The décor
is modern and accents contemporary South African art and crafts. The
Family Unit - The family unit has direct access to the large garden
and overlooks the duck pond. It is more than 50 square metres in area
and comprises a bedroom with a King size, extra length, double bed,
linked to a bedroom with two twin beds. We can provide a cot if
needed, please specify when confirming. From the main, twin bedded
room, lead a separate bathroom, a separate shower room and a separate
toilet with bidet, ensuring privacy for all. Both rooms lead onto a
private verandah and into the garden. The verandah has tea and coffee
making facilities. Each room has a small fridge with juice and
fresh milk. There is a tray with tea and coffee-making facilities.
Being
situated in Mtubatuba, we are conveniently placed halfway between the
Umfolozi-Hulhluwe game reserve and, the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park
–a World Heritage Site. Activities on offer in the area include, wale
watching tours, nightly turtle tours, tours of various private game parks
and national reserves, horse trails as well as cruises on the St. Lucia
estuary to mention a few. For more fisherman, deep-sea charters can be
arranged, or simply fish in the estuary of off the beach at St. Lucia.
Unspoiled beaches at Cape Vidal and Sodwana are suitable for snorkeling
and scuba diving respectively, where a wide array of tropical reef
dwelling fish inhabit the numerous reefs. The warm Indian Ocean is
also suitable for swimming all year round. For golfing enthusiast, there
are two well-maintained 9-hole golf courses nearby, the Umfolozi Golf
Club and Monzi Golf Club, two of the gems of the north coast.
