Situated in the Kwazulu-Natal Drakensberg, halfway between Johannesburg and Durban, Montusi is the only upmarket destination in the area with a full and uninterrupted view of the Drakensberg's most famous part, the Amphitheatre escarpment. The guests enjoy this spectacular scenery in the comfort of their private individual garden suites. The intimate restaurant (with under-floor heating and log fireplace) is renowned for sumptuous local cuisine with innovative menus. Breakfast and dinner are included for lodge guests. Light lunches and teas can be ordered separately.

Activities include hiking, horse riding, trout fishing, golf, swimming and even trapezing. They also do guided tours to the surrounding tribal areas, all still authentic.

Doing nothing is probably the most favourite past time at Montusi. No pressure, no wake up calls (in fact no telephone in the room), hot water all day long. Montusi is the best place to simply wind down and relax. Just enjoy the little bit of paradise and recharge the batteries. KwaZulu-Natal is one of South Africa's most diverse provinces, surrounded by the warm Indian Ocean in the east, Mozambique and Swaziland in the North, Lesotho and the Free State in the west, and the Eastern Cape in the south. Its most well-known city is Durban.
