These enormous caves take you to an underworld only imaginable. Only a very small part of the cave system is open to the public, but for the curious, a video will take you on an underground journey where very few humans have set foot. Take a drive further towards the north and reach the magnificent Swartberg Mountain Range, after only a few kilometres. In 1886, the renowned road builder, Thomas Bain, took on the enormous task of constructing a pass over the 1500m high mountains. Today, the Swartberg Pass has been declared a national monument, and remains as Bains and his team left it over a hundred years ago. At the top of the pass, an awesome view awaits you: hundreds of kilometers of Great Karoo, and a winding road that takes you down to one of the undiscovered secrets of our valley, the quaint little town of Prins Albert.
