Perched
high up on the edge of luscious green river of hills and slopes, this
tranquil and secluded hillside retreat lives up to its name. At an
altitude of 1340m, one can survey the unspoilt beauty of the Midlands
valley in one of our 16 exclusively appointed rooms. Utmost care has been
taken in making our cosy log cabins blend harmoniously with nature.
Bordering on pristine indigenous forest where flora and fauna abound, the
Lodge offers a natural sanctuary to numerous species of birds. Take a
leisure walk in the escarpment or for the more adventurous, explore the
forest with its towering giants of yellowwood trees and come back to our
restaurant for a refreshing drink. Details have not been left to chance.
Following its concept of Balinese décor infused with western philosophy,
EurAsia, our restaurant serves a fusion of food that does not only
satisfy the body but also feeds the soul. You are always welcomed to a

Taking
utmost care to blend harmoniously with nature, accommodation consists
of cozy log cabins. These luxuriouly furnished timber chalets raised
on stilts, each induviaully equipped with a king-size bed, create a
feeling of being suspended in the forest canopy. All rooms are en
suite. The blending of straight-line architecture and contemporary
Asian design adds to the feeling of calm and serenity. Wooden
balconies provide a perfect place of reflection, a respite to
contemplate natures beauty in its simplicity, to breathe in the scent
of the woods and pure mountain air. On a clear night, feel surrounded
by the stars while lounging in the luxury of your bed.
Forest
Walks: Nature trails within the forest are easily accessible and
tours are conducted by knowledgeable guides. The reception can provide
you with books to help you identify the birds, trees and small animals
that you might encounter in the forest. Or simply ask Martin, our Man
of the Forest. Horse back riding: For those
who are in pursuit of a more active getaway. A number of ranches and
stud farms in the neighbourhood offer hay rides or easy horse trails
for the family as well as Drakensberg tours for the real
"cowboys". Fly fishing: The
Midlands is legendary for its well-stocked trout dams. Some of our
neighbours boast of at least 10 dams in their property! SA
guided tours: Guided tours can be arranged with partner lodges.
Our two to three week tour will bring you to Capetown, the Gardenroute,
Durban, the Natal Midlands and Game Reserves in different parts of the
country. Golf: Some of the country's finest golf
clubs are in the vicinity. Boschoek, Sakabula, Mooi River and
Pietermaritzburg Golf Club to name a few. Meandering:
Whether you're in search of historical churches, tasty home-made
produce or simply a small gift for a friend, the Midlands Meander has
the answer. All you have to do is take a drive on the well maintained,
easy navigable roads and you can "experience the country at its
best". Experiences range from cheese-making, micro-brewing and
handcrafts to woodwork, pottery, weaving, iron-work, glassware and
furniture in the arts and craft line. For those who are inclined to
the less energetic country pursuits, you can spread your picnic
blanket in a scenic spot and soak up the clean country air. We have
some of the most incredible scenery in South Africa. Spectacular falls
and gorge coupled with rivers and nature reserves. So, what are you
