Mfubu Lodge and Gallery Accommodation in
Balule Nature Reserve, Phalaborwa in Limpopo
Province, South Africa
Have a
creative holiday, even if you only go through the books in
the
library and read, or walk or listen to music or just listen to the
nature. Inspiration here grows on the trees, just go and grab it.
Forget the stress, open your mind and let the nature to embrace
you.
Mfubu Lodge and Gallery Accommodation in
Balule Nature Reserve, Phalaborwa in the Limpopo
Province, South Africa is a heaven for creative people
looking for inspiration in an unspoiled environment. Our policy is
to give maximum service and enjoyment with minimum impact on
nature. Africa is about the sun, the heat, the rhytm, the
breathtaking scenery, the noise of the bush, the closeness to
animals. But also about the luxury of icy cold glass of water or
wine and a dip in a pool. Double enjoyed after a walk in the
bush. Mfubu means hippo in the African language bemba and these
magnificient animals are frequent guests at night on the lawn. You
can hear them smacking the grass.

Main camp nestles under the green canopy of giant indigenous trees
in full view of the river. Three thatched timber chalets on stilts are
connected by aerial walkway with two bathrooms, lounge with pleasant
deck to have sundowner and watch the river on and dining room with
open fire. Each chalet accommodates two people in Xtra large "pygmy"
beds under a mosquito net. Two sparkling swimming pools offer a
refreshing dip. (Sometimes have to be shared with elephant.)
Timber
cottage is secluded from the main camp and offers total privacy.
Hidden in the trees on stilts with own bathroom (shower) and inspiring
view of the river Stone cottage is the alternative for a more careful
bushlover, ensuite bathroom and tranquil veranda to watch the river
from. A high wooden bridge leads across a deep gully to an inviting
swimming pool in the middle of the bush. At night both the bridge and
the pool is illuminated.
An animal hide on the highest point of the property offers a quiet
place for watching the birds and game.
You can also take a walk through the bush on a walking trail, which is
well used by the game. Sit on a wooden bench on a rock and sketch the
scenery or just watch the waterhole.
Mfubu
is 30 km from the Phalaborwa gate to the Kruger National Park, which
is part of the biggest nature reserve in the world - the
Transfrontier park formed in 2002. We are also part of Kruger to
Canyons Biosphere Reserve a UNESCO conservation project.
