Maputaland Lodge - Accommodation

Maputaland
Lodge the Accommodation in St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal
is a great value and a top spot from which to sample the joys of the
World Heritage Site, beaches, reefs and big game of the area. Jorg,
who is very modest about his talents, is the bird fundi (430 local
species live locally!) and his sister Nicola is a dive-master. And
they are both registered professional game guides too, so you’ve got
no excuse to laze about! They guide trips out into nearby
Hluhluwe-Umfolozi reserve.

And,
amazingly, Jorg likes to explore the streets of St Lucia itself,
taking his guests on night safaris! Hippos, impala and on rare
occasion even leopards can be seen wandering about the pavements. Bush
babies and chameleons come out during the cicada-hours too. The lodge
is recently built, homely, relaxed and comfortable. But you’re hardly
here to stay indoors! Jorg does a cracking ‘bonnet breakfast’ for
those that go with him on day tours (starting at 4 am and getting back
at 6pm).
Nicola’s
dive tours are also run on a no-limits basis too and you can dive and
snorkel as many times as you like. Ask them about turtle-watching
tours (two rare breeds come here), deep-sea fishing and fly-casting
for 1.5-metre darga-salmon (which Jorg sometimes also cooks on the
braai). Exciting, but very friendly with it.
The comfortable double rooms has ensuite
bathrooms and Coffee and Tea making facilities. Walk out of the
bedroom into the garden and pool area.
A Nice refreshing splash in the pool after a long day in the sun, or laze around the pool
and relax in this beautiful garden setting while you are entertained by bird.
