Madikwe Game Reserve, North West Province provides for the cost conscious a cost effective option for
families wishing to visit the reserve. It is one of the self-catering
lodge options offered by Madikwe Safaris in the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Set on a private farm bordering the Marico River, adjacent to
the well known Jaci's Camp, the lodge is situated in a garden with a
large expanse of lawn with its own private swimming pool overlooking
its own private waterhole where game come down to drink. The camp is
fenced so it is very safe for children.

The
Madikwe Farmhouse is a private newly offered bush retreat for the
exclusive use of families and small groups of up to 8 persons - sold only
as a complete camp, it is ideal for 2 families and their children to
experience the wonderful outdoors of Madikwe. There are 4 bedrooms, all
with fans and air conditioning, 2 with double beds and 2 with double
single beds. The 4 bedrooms share the two bathrooms. Wake up in the
morning with the smell of coffee and wood smoke and the call of
francolin. On hand will be your private ranger who at your choice will
either do a walk or a leisurely game drive. The majestic trees, river and
hills on the farm offer stunning walking areas. You can expect to see the
"Top 10"in this malaria free reserve, including lion, leopard,
large herds of elephants, black and white rhino, buffalo, hippo, brown
and spotted hyena, giraffe, wild dog, and cheetah. Extensive plains game
occurs, including gemsbok, tssebe, and springbok. Over 400 bird species
occur in the area.
After
brunch relax under the trees around the pool overlooking the
waterhole. The staff and ranger are for your exclusive use during your
stay, so you need to do nothing - just chill out and enjoy!! . Evening
meals are around the log fire in the boma. Guests to Madikwe are promised the chance of seeing the Big Five
(the largest elephant population outside of Kruger, both black and
white rhino, the biggest disease free herd of buffalo in the country,
lion and leopard), as well as the rare and endangered wild dog,
cheetah, brown and spotted hyena and all other predators. A multitude
of plains game includes giraffe, zebra, springbok and sable. For
birders, Madikwe is an unmissable destination with the latest official
bird list boasting an incredible 340 species.
