There
are many fine restaurants very close to Lusthof in the Constantia
area, with a few notables on the beautiful wine estates such as
Buitenverwachting, La Colombe, and Constantia Uitsig (all in the top
10 restaurants of South Africa). The popular River Café (which Judy
used to own), which serves delectable breakfasts and lunches, is also
just up the road, while Peddlars on the Bend, a local pub/restaurant
is literally within walking distance from the cottage (reservations
and advice on bookings can be made on request). Lusthof is situated in
the heart of the Constantia winelands with the Constantia Wine Route
right on its doorstep. The historic wine estates of Groot Constantia,
Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting, Constantia Uitsig and Steenberg
Vineyards are all in close proximity if wine tasting and buying are an
interest.
Mother
City with Table Mountain as backdrop has been a welcome landmark to
weary travellers since the early days of Dutch settlement. Today, this
modern, cosmopolitan city offers something to everyone and is worth
exploring. Any
visit to Cape Town must include a trip to Cape Point, the tip of
Africa. The Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve (proclaimed in 1939) has
recently been included in the new Cape Peninsula National Park,
which covers over 22000 hectares. Here you will find a combination of
dramatic seascapes and soaring cliffs, antelope such as the rare
mountain zebra and bontebok, as well as tremendously varied flora.
