Situated high up on the foothills, with views all the way to Table Mountain, across to Cape Point and both oceans, peace and tranquillity come in large doses here. Your hosts, Pieter and Nini Cloete, offer friendly hospitality, and can advise you on what to see and where to go. As Pieter's family has been involved in wine in the Cape for over 300 years, and Nini is a fully qualified and registered specialist tour guide, they are able to advise and arrange private tours to various places of interest.

There is an abundance of very good restaurants nearby, and, being in the heart of wine country, there are plenty of excellent wineries to explore, within a few minutes drive down the mountain.
There are several international golf courses, vineyard walking and horse riding trails, and places of historical and architectural interest, all set in magnificent scenery.

Best of all, after a long leisurely day of exploring the delights of the winelands, is to meander back through the vineyards and up the mountain, to relax and luxuriate in Longfield Cottage's glorious setting. Those supremely comfortable little cottages are set in a garden filled with lavender and roses, next to vineyards, and paddocks where horses graze. The open-plan sitting/dining area is furnished with Cape Country antiques, complete with television, fireplace, for those cosy winter evenings.
