There
is a residents' pub and guests are welcome to join Julian for dinner
in the main homestead. A little distance away lies a charmingly
decorated Cape cottage which consists of two bedrooms, the main
bedroom has an en suite bathroom and the second one has a private
bathroom. The large and stylish sitting room has an open fireplace and
there is a fully equipped kitchen. Activities include swimming in the
river, walking, bird watching, boating and cycling. Guests have free
use of a rowing boat and mountain bikes. The farmyard is a national
monument and is one of the oldest homesteads in South Africa. The
entire fascinating collection of farm buildings is listed as a
National Monument, with some converted into stylish accommodation,
furnished with superb antiques from the original homestead.
Enjoy
the views over the unspoilt countryside, swimming, boating or canoeing
on the tranquil Berg River.
Explore the picturesque West Coast villages, stroll along deserted
beaches only 20 minutes away or simply enjoy the tranquility of this
exquisite home. You are fed like a king, but treated as a friend.
A less tame option is to arrange for a spin in the sky in a
six-seater plane. (Kersefontein has its own private air strip.) This
tends to get the adrenalin pumping, because Julian is not only an
accomplished pilot, say those who've followed the coastline with him,
he's also a frustrated stunt pilot.
