Keisie Cottages - Accommodation near Montagu, Western Cape, South Africa
Mike
and Toni van Hoey Smith are the owners of Keisie Cottages, a rustic
mountain retreat on a beautiful fruit farm in the Keisie Valley, 24 kms
outside of Montagu. This venue is perfect if you want to just relax and
enjoy the peace and serenity of the mountains, and when you want a bit of
action there is plenty to do to keep you occupied. Our farm is just below
the world famous tractor ride. There are swimming facilities, lovely
hikes into the mountains and to our rock pools, mountain biking all on
the farm. 4x4 trails, rock climbing, abseiling, horse riding all nearby.
Our guests are welcome to snoop around the farm, enjoy the gardens, sit
under the oak trees or pick fresh herbs for their dinner. We have a few
acres of roses which are absolutely glorious when in bloom. We farm
gooseberries, peaches, apricots, quinces, hanepoot and merlot grapes for
wine and make our own jams and preserves from all these fruit.

We
have four charming restored farm cottages. All are fully self-catering,
all linen except towels is provided and they all have braai facilities
and indoor fireplaces for the cold winter months. All have a kitchen,
fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, kettle, hotplate and toaster. The
bathrooms have been modernised with a lovely gas shower. The cottages
sleep between 2 and 4 people. Views are stunning, it is very quiet and
peaceful and if you're really lucky you might even have a visit from a
rheebok or a mountain tortoise. Keisie Huisie : This is a gem! Stunning
views from the verandah, complete privacy. Two bedrooms, plus a double
sleeper couch in the lounge. Bathroom with bath and shower and loo as
well as a second loo. The house has a separate dining room and large
kitchen and a beautiful private garden. There is a wendy house in the
garden which can accommodate a few extra guests (nice for teenagers).

We
have a lovely cement dam which we built for swimming, with steps and a
ledge to sit on. We are perfectly located to enjoy the Robertson
Valley Wine Route which is a great way to while away the day. The
Tractor Ride up to the summit of the Langeberg is a long time
favourite of visitors and locals alike. Look out for your cottage,
which can be seen from the ride. Afterwards you can have a potjie
lunch which is delicious and great value for money. Avalon Hot Springs
resort offers hours of fun and relaxation and you can benefit from the
healing powers of the springs which are amongst the most pure of any
in the world. Adventure Sports are very popular in this area,
especially rock climbing, abseiling, mountain biking and 4x4 trails.
Our farm is perfect for mountain biking so don't forget to bring your
bike! Hiking trails are many and vary from very relaxed to quite
challenging hikes. We will provide you with information on your
arrival.
