Trip
to places of the Anglo Boer of war such as Talana and Spionkop. Trip
into emaKhosini the valley, where the history of the Zulu nation
began. They see the burial places of king Shakas ancestor, visit the
royal residence of Shakas successor king Dingane like the residence of
king Cetshwayo, which caused a sensitive defeat to the Englishmen in
the Anglo anglo-Zulu war. Trip to the Blood River, where 1838
Voortrekker and king Dinganes army faced each other. Visits a Zulu
family: Isandlwana can arrange the attendance in a zulu home for you,
where you can experience more over the life of the zulus. Isandlwana
Lodge is within comfortable driving distance of several of Africa’s
most spectacular game reserves, enabling guests to combine enjoyment
of Zululand’s rich wildlife heritage as well as the living history
of the battlefields. The adjoining Umfolozo and Hluhluwe game
reserves, (the most long-established on the continent), host ‘The
Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo), but are
perhaps best known for the part they played in preventing the total
extinction of Africa’s rhino population. Both the black and white
species of rhino are found here. Mkuzi game reserve (superb natural
parkland beneath the Lebombo Mountains, is world famous for its
abundance of bird life.
