Hoogekraal Country House, the Accommodatin in George, Western Cape is the oldest of the pioneer houses. Guests are accommodated only in original 18th and 19th century houses, set in old family gardens. Additionally, the reception rooms display some of the rarest private collections of antiques and paintings in the country. Three historic double rooms en-suite, tastefully furnished with Cape antiques and heirlooms, are located in the original 1760 house. This building is one of the oldest. In addition, two full suites are accommodated in the 1820 house. Each has a separate sitting room with a third bed, two bathrooms & private patio and garden entry. A further full suite for a family also has a second bedroom in the attic, suitable for teenagers and is accessed by the original yellowwood staircase.

This pioneer heritage Estate has a rare ambience, fine cuisine & hosting and a unique private collection of art & antiques. A stay-over at Hoogekraal in original 18th and 19th century houses, as well as the candle - lit dinners and its fascinating history, are a must for the connoisseur. Part of the fascinating Africana Library of Hoogekraal is also available for guests, who may want only to sit quietly in the garden and read, or look at picture books of South African nature and the animal kingdom. 

Glentana beach is 3 min. drive from Hoogekraal, and most of the majestic and dramatic drives and scenery of the Garden Route are with a morning's touring. Only 1km off the N2 highway and 3 minutes to the beach, it is close to the airport, near fine golf courses, Botlierskop Game Ranch, Mossel Bay (15th Century, Mariner's stop-over), and George with its famous Steam Train. There are also nature reserves in the general area, which have been established to conserve the unique ecology of this coastal region, as well as encourage the return and expansion of the fauna and flora indigenous to the Southern Cape. These include those in the 'Wilderness' area, the Serpentine, Groenvlei, Saasveld, Knysna Lagoon, Tsitsikamma and Storms River as well as the Outeniqua Mountain reserve. In addition, the coastal areas support marine and wetlands conservation areas.
