Hoekie Guest House - Accommodation in
Paternoster, Western Cape, South Africa
Hoekie Guest House, Accommodation
in Paternoster, Western
Cape. Hoekie means 'little
corner' in Afrikaans and there are indeed many nooks and crannies bout
Hoekie where one can relax in the sun; a wooden chaise-longue built
from beach-flotsam by the pool, an upstairs courtyard between two
gabled bedrooms, and a chunky wooden picnic table on the verandah
which enjoys the view. And what a view! One can see over the quiet
lane and out to a wide golden beach and ocean beyond.Back inside, the
creative hand has not been stayed and those of us who don't mind a
lick of luxury won't feel out of place either. The sitting room is
decorated in earthy tones, a high, open-plan space that connects to a
swish kitchen and a glass-roofed dining room; there's a boat prow upon
the wall and Volker's exquisite miniature schooner and a hand-made
staircase.
