Accommodation
Gwalagwala,
owned and run by Ann and Dorian Harcourt-Baldwin is a luxury tented
safari camp built near the Timbavati / Klaserie Reserve on the banks
of the Klaserie river. This unspoilt gem is a well managed game farm
which aims to restore and maintain the enviroment in its natural
state. The central boma, ingenuously built amongst the branches of a
Jackalberry tree, offers a well stocked bar, kitchen and deck - with
cool comfort in the nearby swimming pool and a lounge overlooking the
Klaserie River; the perfect setting for relaxation. The Reserve
boasts an abundance of plains game, night animals and excellent
birding. Experience the exhilaration of approaching wild game on foot,
meander along the many walking trails or join them for an afternoon /
evening game drive in an open Landrover on Gwalagwala or go on an
exciting Big Five Drive on a neighbouring Reserve.

Gwalagwala Tented
Camp accommodation consists of 5 East-African style luxury safari
tents on raised wooden platforms, with en-suite bathroom, hot and cold
water, electricity and fans to combine privacy and outstanding
bush-comfort with everything that nature has to offer. Each unit is fully
serviced by Gwalagwala's friendly staff and provides complete privacy for
its guests. Evening meals can be enjoyed around a campfire in the lapa (a
circular reed enclosure built on traditional African lines as protection
against wild animals). A central 'treehouse' is built among Jackalberry
and Tamboetie trees, on a wooden platform about 3 metres off the ground.
This consists of a bar, breakfast and a reading area. It is a quiet
place where guests can discuss the day's excitements or simply sit
quietly, listening to the sounds of the bush or bird watching. There is a
deep swimming pool around which guests may relax during the heat of the
day.
Gwalagwala
offers a wide variety of fauna and flora including wetlands, bushveld
and riverine areas, numerous species of birds and a variety of game,
including waterbuck, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, nyala, hippo,
bushbuck and warthog - allowing guests to walk freely around the
trails and visit the viewing sites. A feast for the senses. Do it on
your own or allow us to guide and enjoy it with you, either on foot or
in open vehicles. Game drives and guided, educational walks around
Gwalagwala are included in the tariffs. Canoe, for bird watching on the
dam, is available. Big 5 Game Drives included in the tariff.
