Elm Tree Guest Cottages are the ideal base for exploring the West Coast: whales, dolphins, abundant bird life, spring wild flowers. A fisherman`s paradise, with a wonderful climate, only 1 1/2 hours from Cape Town. Your hosts, Helen & Michael West, look forward to welcoming you to this special corner of the West Coast. St Helena Bay is one of the most popular bays for whales to visit and calve. From August to November, there are frequent close encounters with Southern Right and sometimes even Humpbacked Whales! Schools of dolphins, (sometimes several hundred) can be seen at any time, chasing the schools of fish or just leaping from the waves with pure joy.

All cottages individually decorated in a bright and breezy West Coast style and are fully equipped with bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery, fridge, TV, Microwave, tea and coffee and each has its own private stoep with braai facilities. All cottages have showers in the bathrooms, spacious living / dining / kitchen areas with stoeps and braais overlooking the bay, all done in typical West Coast fisherman's style.

Attractions and Activities in the area include : Whale and Dolphin watching. Wild Flowers in Spring. Fantastic Birdwatching (home to the rare 'African Black Oyster Catcher'). Fishing. Boat and Kayak trips. Watersports. Horse riding by arrangement. Uncrowded Beaches for Walking. Golf courses. Tours of the Salt Works, Fish Factories, Oyster Farm and the Fossil Park can all be arranged. Wine Routes can be visited. There are Art Galleries, Craft and Curio Shops, plus good Restaurants all nearby.
