Coral Guest Cottages Accommodation in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape. Staying in Cynthia and Alf’s settler’s cottage was like being transported back in time, a charming old structure with an unlikely and rather romantic history. Once upon a time, in the mid-1800s, it housed the consulting rooms for a Doctor Jones-Phillipson, having previously been transported to Port Elizabeth from England, then to Grahamstown and then by ox-wagon express to Port Alfred. Our own Alfred, of the Cynthia-Alf variety, discovered the cottage in disrepair and decided to dismantle it, treat the wood and resurrect it body and soul in their front yard. Quite a mission, but well worth the effort! So thank you Alf for your entrepreneurial spirit.

Now guests can sleep in a well-travelled Oregon pine cottage, which is quite an exclusive experience. Cynthia’s daily and delicious contribution is breakfast, her speciality in both variety and eclectic style. She can cook different breakfasts every day for two weeks, so what you have depends on her creative inspiration on the morning in question. You have to sampled her eggs benedict africano with cheese sauce and grated biltong, but you may get her crêpe speciality with potatoes, mushroom, bacon and sausage. The beaches nearby are not to be missed so make sure you allow enough time to enjoy them in a relaxed way.

These charming cottages are set in peaceful, sub-tropical surroundings with lots of bird life and within walking distance to the beach, small boat harbour and shopping complex. The town of Port Alfred offers world famous beaches, beautiful sunsets and wonderful walks.
