Standing
sentry over one of the reserve's largest lakes - which bids a silent
summons at dawn and dusk to the ever-present wildlife, including the Big
Five - is Game Lodge, Chitwa Chitwa's most exclusive camp. Indulging in
the clever design which brings the outside in, the magnificent bar and
lounge area melt into the surrounding trees, rendering you invisible to
the game gathering on the open plain in the cool of the evening. Nestling
beneath a blanket of Knobthorn trees rests Safari Lodge, originally a
hunting lodge. In unwavering African tradition, the chalets at Safari
Lodge are thatched, creating a bond with their bushveld surroundings. Its
charm lies in that it has remained small and intimate, accommodating a
maximum of ten guests in five chalets. Relaxed and in harmony with its
surroundings, Safari Lodge is enjoyed for its rich diversity of animal
and bird life which can be easily observed from each chalet.
Chitwa
Chitwa lies within the Sabie Sand Game Reserve and Kruger National Park,
which is the most famous park in the world and the oldest one in Africa.
At 350 kms long and 60 kms wide it covers an area of 1,948,528 hectares.
Five rivers cross the park from west to east and it is home to an
unparalleled diversity of wildlife. Close encounters with the Big Five
will make this an unforgettable experience. Daily activities include
early morning and afternoon game drives, the afternoon drive affording
you the opportunity to have sundowners in the bush. A bush walk if
offered daily accompanied by your personal ranger, after a sumptuous
English or Continental breakfast. Lunches are served in the lapa adjacent
to the viewing deck and dinners are served in the starlit boma or indoor
dining room.
