Double
and twin rooms are all ensuite and have individual private entrances
from the lovely garden. The rooms are equipped with all your needs for
a comfortable stay, including tea/coffee trays, heaters/fans, fridge,
personal toiletries etc. A daily maid service keeps your rooms fresh
and clean. Some TVs are available if requested when booking, but most
of our guests like to enjoy star-filled evenings outside having a
barbecue/braai, enjoying a bottle of South African wine or just
relaxing after a day in the mountains. Our night skies are one of the
special experiences of this area.
Breakfast
here in the Drakensberg Mountains is best enjoyed outdoors the
view from the patio where we serve your breakfast is spectacular -
Cathkin Cottage bed and breakfast is famous for its delicious full
English and/or Continental feasts to be enjoyed whilst we help you to
plan your day ahead exploring the mountains or relaxing in our
park-like garden and beside the swimming pool. A braai/barbecue under
the trees is the perfect end to a perfect day in the Champagne Valley.
For the energetic there is lots to see and do here, mostly within a
few minutes of the cottage with walking/hiking trails starting at the
cottage. More hiking trails start at Monks Cowl conservation area,
just 10 minutes from Cathkin Cottage. There are horse riding trails in
a game reserve and in the mountains. Bushmen cave paintings can be
visited and much more see the list below for even more activities
and places of interest. Golf Courses Championship course at
Champagne Sports Resort, 9 hole course at Monks Cowl. Cathkin Cottage
provides you with a picnic basket for picnics by the many mountain
streams and there are many restaurants, tea gardens, etc closeby for
meals throughout the day and evening, all offering excellent value.
