afternoon sundowners. The elegant dining room offers an extensive buffet,
and superb cuisine, personally supervised by the hotel's top class chef.
The gorgeous Summer season covers the surrounding mountain range with a
blanket of green. Offering warm days and cool evenings, this is the
perfect season to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors and the many
hiking trails at Cathedral Peak. The inviting new recreational area
offers a cold & heated pool as well as a children's paddling pool,
beach volleyball court, challenging climbing tower and a health centre.
This centre includes a gym, complete with cardiovascular and strength
training equipment, steam bath and therapist who offers a variety of
massages and treatments.
The
thatched boma leads from the pool lawns, and, like the gym below it,
looks out over the mountains and the golf course. Set against a
majestic mountain backdrop the challenging 9-hole golf course (with
alternate tees for an 18-hole game) has been termed the "thinking
golfer's" course. An opportunity to follow trails on horseback
through grasslands and across the slopes enables the rider to really
appreciate the splendor of this countryside. Hotel guests can enjoy a
host of other sporting and leisure activities, including tennis,
badminton, bowls, squash, mountain bike trails, lawn chess, trout
fishing mini-golf, birdwatching, and there is a gym with sauna. The
hotel will gladly prepare a picnic lunch for your outing along the
rivers and rockpools. These natural features provide endless
diversion.
There is plenty to do in the area too. Walks in the Drakensberg
mountains, visits to bushman paintings, horse trails though a private
game reserve, canoe trips, canopy tours and the Midlands Meander to
mention but a few.
