Park Lodge is situated in Mafikeng and comprises of 20 rooms. Mafikeng is
a vibrant provincial and commercial capital and a major tourism
attraction highlighting the history, culture and wildlife of this unique
region of South Africa. The name Mafikeng (Mahikeng) means "The
place among the rocks". This name was given to the area by early
Barolong chiefs who had settled along the Molopo River in 1852.

The
rooms are tastefully furnished with a distinct African wildlife theme
and oregon furniture with unique custom-made quilts. All rooms have
en-suite bathrooms and DSTV. A fully licensed restaurant and pub
complete the Lodge. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served in the
fully licensed al-la-carte restaurant and pub. The menu is varied
ranging from sandwiches to seafood platters.
The
Lodge offers the warmest atmosphere, total comfort and a generous
hospitality. A 60-seater conference room compelete with private
recessed bar, kitchen facilities, own ablutions and equipment are
available. Mafikeng attracted the attention of the world during the
Anglo-Boer War of 1899 - 1902 as the small British garrison held out
for 217 days against Boer forces who had surrounded the town. The
relief of Mafikeng was greeted with wild jubilation in London - with
the result that the word "mafficking" became part of the
English vocabulary to describe rejoicing with hysterical
boisterousness.
