the Overberg region and South Africa in general, as well as novels for
light holiday reading. Full cooked country breakfast or continental

The
village of Stanford has much to offer: wander along the banks of the
Klein River, which meanders through the village, or take a boat trip
down to the lagoon and see the remarkable bird-life en-route; take a
picnic and cooler bag for drinks. Stanford has an eclectic mix of
galleries and shops to browse as well as a number of coffee shops. Why
not explore the village and surrounding area by bicycle? Vines abound
in the Overberg, and Stanford has it’s own winery which specializes
in South Africa’s Pinotage. Cathie can tailor-make a wine route for
you to follow so as to visit wineries which make wine from the
varietals you like best. The Overberg region is famed for its Shiraz
and Pinot Noir to name but a few. Sadly, no Overberg wineries make Méthode
cap classique. There are also numerous beaches within a short driving
distance to go and soak up the sun or simply stay in Stanford and let
Isit, the Jack Russell, take you for a walk on a breezy winters day. There is plenty to do in the area too.
Horse riding trails along the lagoon, up the mountains or beach rides
are available for the more adventurous. There is a nearby 4 x 4 trail.
Coarse, fly and sea-fishing can be arranged. Nearby De Kelders and
Gansbaai offer excellent whale watching and white shark viewing and
cage diving in season. Golfing can be arranged on the Links course at
Gansbaai, at the Hermanus course at the foot of the Olifantsberg
mountain range, or at Arabella Country Club overlooking the pristine
Bot River lagoon near Kleinmond.
