Banghoek
Lodge is located in the heart of Kwa-Zulu Natal’s Elephant
Coast, one
of South
Africa’s conservational gems, offering a diverse collection of
indigenous fauna and flora, traditional Zulu culture and wildlife in
their natural habitat. Only a few minutes drive off the N2 highway,
between Hluhluwe and Mkuze makes Banghoek Lodge the perfect spot to
explore the wonders of the Zulu Kingdom, and an excellent stop over en
route north to Mozambique, Swaziland and Mpumalanga’s Kruger
National Park and south en route to Durban. Many of South-Africa’s main
attractions are in close proximity, such as the well known
Hluhluwe-Imfolozi and Mkuze
Game Reserves and World Heritage Site,
St.Lucia
Estuary. You can enjoy a wide variety of activities such as game
drives, excellent bird watching, boat cruises, inland tiger fishing, deep
sea fishing and scuba diving. Banghoek Lodge's friendly staff will make

The
Lodge consists of thirty luxury chalets, all equipped with en-suite
bathrooms, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Double and family rooms
are available, offering dinner, bed and breakfast. Banghoek Lodge
offers a complementary bridal suite including B&B for our bride
and groom. There are twelve self-catering log cabins located in a more
secluded area of the property. Each cabin accommodates up to four
guests, with communal kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Banghoek
Lodge is the ideal setting for weddings with the backdrop of
undisturbed African bush, clear blue skies and lush green gardens for
that picture perfect moment. There is plenty to do in the area:
Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, 30 min south: It’s one of
South-Africa’s oldest game reserves and is home to the White and
Black Rhino. Helping to ensure its survival, its reserve is residence
to over 2000 rhino making it the highest concentration in the world.
Visitors can encounter the Big Five: elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo
and lion. This game reserve was once the royal hunting ground of the
Zulu King Shaka. Mkuze Game Reserve, 10 min north: A birdwatcher’s
paradise, over 380 bird species can be found here. A variety of
antelope and the black and white rhino can also be viewed here Self
guided hiking trails at Banghoek takes you along the indigenous shady
banks of the Msunduze River, where you will see abundant birdlife and
maybe encounter small antelope. St. Lucia Estuary, 1 hour south-east:
It is one of South Africa’s largest estuaries and Wetland Park of
global importance, with an abundance of hippo's and crocodiles. St.
Lucia was South-Africa’s first World Heritage Site. The park
contains some of the highest forested dunes in the world as well as
swamp and sand forest, palm veld and various woodland vegetation
types. St. Lucia is an angler’s paradise and the bird life is
prolific. Beaches within the Marine Reserve are the breeding grounds
of the Leatherback Turtle. Cape
Vidal beach provides relatively
protected swimming and golden sunsets, and is well known for
snorkeling and fishing.
