There are five spacious, and beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms to choose from at Avondrood Guesthouse. All the rooms face onto our secluded garden with its magnificent mountain views and swimming pool. Attention to detail to ensure you comfort is something we take pride in; all the bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning, a king-size bed, TV, minibar, and a safe for valuables. The bathrooms have under-floor heating and a separate bath and shower and a hairdryer. Avondrood ("Red Evening") gets its name from the sunsets in the valley. After a day of sightseeing or relaxing at the pool, kick back and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine in our garden watching the sun turn red, or come join us in front of the fire in the lounge on chilly evenings and try our selection of fine South African wines.

A wine tasting excursion is a must for anyone wanting to experience Franschhoek. The Huguenots who established Franschhoek in the 17th century noted the ideal wine making climate of this valley and immediately started planting vines. Many of these old estates remain, and most of these, along with the many smaller family vineyards are open to wine tasting and cellar tours. Other famed Cape wine routes, such as Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington and Somerset West are all within a 30 min drive from Franschhoek. For the more active, adventurous, or less hungry, we can arrange fly and trout fishing; helicopter trips; paragliding; mountain bike and hiking and hot-air-ballooning. Or how about a stroll through this charming village, exploring the French Huguenot Monument and museum. For those who enjoy a walk with a purpose, we can arrange a round of golf at a nearby 18 hole Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. Pearl Valley Golf Estate in Paarl is happy to hire out clubs to casual players, and has no minimum or maximum handicap requirements.
