The setting is a perfect backdrop for the personal and professional service of André and Beatrice Barnard with their dining room for their guests.
While the high-ceilinged and carefully restored dining room is elegant in appearance and classical in appointments, the food pays homage to the most modern tastes. Beatrice produces Karoo haute cuisine. And her four-course menus change regularly to make use of the best and freshest local products. Bedrooms are cosy and quaint with comforts and extras to pamper. Relax on the pool terrace or in the lounge overlooking the pool.

Graaff Reinet is ideally situated as an ideal stop between many of the major centres in South Africa, but it is the visitor who takes the time out to explore this unique area, who will experience the adventure of a lifetime. There is plenty to do in the area. Game viewing. Golf. Horse riding. Hiking trails in the Karoo Nature Reserve and in the Sneeuberg mountains. The Valley of Desolation is a short 14 km drive from the town. Any visitor to the Reserve will be surprised to discover the diversity of fauna and flora. There are over 220 recorded species of birdlife, 336 plants and 43 mammals. Catch a glimpse of the endangered Cape Mountain Zebra, plenty of Kudu, Buffalo, the majestic Black Eagle and the Kori Bustard, the heaviest flying bird in the world.
