The
camp accommodates just sixteen guests and is ideal for hosting small
gatherings of family, friends, mini brain storming sessions and staff
incentives. Each of the six thatched chalets is en-suite with both shower
and bath. The rooms offer a combination of family suites, doubles and
twins to satisfy everyone's specific requirements. Lanterns for light,
eco-friendly battery power for fans and gas geysers for hot water are
just some of the specifics that ensure an original luxurious rustic bush
experience. Four poster beds, white linen and draped mosquito nets ensure
absolute romance. Meals are typical "home-cooking" gastronomic
affairs and great care is taken to ensure that even the most discerning
taste are well satisfied. Central facilities include a lounge with open
fireplace, a bar, an elevated loft area, swimming pool, indoor and
outdoor dining areas, and open-air boma.
At
Akeru, you will find a refuge - a place of exquisite beauty and peace set
amidst several thousand hectares of pristine Timbavati wilderness,
wherein vehicle activity is kept to a minimum and radio contact utilized
to maximize sightings of interest. The camp overlooks a waterhole, which
is visited by the small and big game. Time stands still here for guests
who while away many an hour relaxing at the pool watching the animals
quench their thirst. The Akeru team is dedicated to ensuring that your
safari experience is enriched by their individual skills and knowledge.
The professional armed rangers and trackers conduct all game drives and
walks ensuring that rare birds species and the more fascinating fauna and
flora are not overlooked - adding to your complete wilderness experience.
Safaris depart just after sunrise each day in an open, fully
equipped vehicle and again after you have enjoyed afternoon tea. The
evening game drive continues into the night after sundowners at a
panoramic viewpoint. The evening always holds a sense of anticipation as
the rare and elusive nocturnal species begin their night activities.
