Milnerton is a suburb of Cape Town in South Africa situated on the Atlantic Ocean 11 kilometres to the north of Cape Town citys centre. Milnerton is known for its stunning properties, beautiful lagoon, links golf course and proximity to Cape Town. The Milnerton area of Cape Town is often seen as a general area including the following: Cambridge Estate, Century City, Du Noon, Joe Slovo Park, Lagoon Beach, Milnerton Ridge, Sanddrift, Tygerhof and Woodbridge Island. Milnertons beach is well known for its spectacular post-card views of Table Mountain. When the winds not blowing the beach is great for walks and taking in the scenery. Wave size varies from small to large and tend to barrel, best waves are usually found when there is a south-easter blowing. The water is ice cold, and only the brave, drunk & ignorant venture in without a wetsuit. Named after Lord Alfred Milner, British High Commissioner for South Africa at the time, the town was founded in 1902. Located on the banks of a lagoon on the Diepriver, Milnerton offers breathtaking views of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head. The lagoon offers boating and water-skiing, with other attractions including a golf course, a race course and beautiful walks along the beach. NATURE Rietvlei Nature Reserve The Headquarters of the South African National Foundation of Conservation of Coatal Birds (SANCCOB) is located at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, where volunteers take care of injured birds and oil-damaged birds (mainly penguins). ATTRACTIONS Beaches Dophin Beach Possibly the best swimming spot in the Blaauwberg area.
