We invite you to come and kick back after a hard day of work or play. Unwind in our cosy lounge while reading a book, cool down in our swimming pool or just simply relax and take in the splendid views. Our upmarket B&B accommodation compliments our warm hospitality and outstanding breakfasts, and all of this at an affordable rate.....

With Durban being located on one of the best coastlines in southern Africa, our beaches offer prime swimming, surfing and diving. We are also located close to the Drakensberg Mountains, the Midlands Meander, scuba diving all along the coastline, paragliding, canoeing, whitewater rafting or simply going for stroll along the beach, it is all here.

Even closer are top class shopping, Gateway Theatre of Shopping and La Lucia Mall. Umhlanga / La Lucia Ridge office parks are literally around the corner, with major sporting arenas like Moses Mabhida Soccer Stadium, Kings Park (Sharks Rugby), Kingsmead and Durban Country Club (golfers), all within a short drive.

Accommodation

The B&B has five upmarket rooms, with all room being en-suite, either with a bath or shower. In the rooms we have either twin or kingsize beds, a bar fridge (which is stocked with an assortment of colddrinks, water and chocolates), complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate station, ceiling fans in all rooms, Television with M-Net and reading material.

Each room has its own entrance and, together with the safe on-site parking, allows you to have your freedom of coming and going when it suits you. All rooms are serviced daily, with a laundry service also being available for those on long stays that require a clean change of clothes.

FACILITIES

The facilities at La Lucia Bed & Breakfast include a swimming pool, pool loungers for lying in the sun, braai area where you are welcome to cook up a heart meal for the family while relaxing around the pool. Office facilities which we make available include telephone and fax and wireless internet access (for convenient access to the online world while relaxing in your room).

BREAKFAST & DINING

All rates include our first class breakfast that includes both continental and full English spreads. Juices, freshly baked goods, cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit are for starters, only be to followed up by a hearty cooked breakfast which should keep any body going for a short while.

Our dining room is located on the second floor and thus provides lovely views of Durban and the Bay. On good days we are able to serve breakfast out on the patio while taking in the views.

Directions

FROM JOHANNESBURG : Follow the N3, then take the North Coast (N2) at the split until you get the Umhlanga/Gateway turn-off. Turn right at traffic light, over the freeway, through one set of traffic lights until you get the Umhlanga Rocks Drive turn-off (the one after the Gateway turn-off.) Turn right into Umhlanga Rocks Drive and follow the attached map. FROM DURBAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT : Head towards the N2 north coast (making sure you do not take the Durban central fork). Continue along the north coast, past the N3 (you go under the N3 coming from JHB to Durban) and continue along the N2 heading to the north coast. Passing the Umgeni rd and Kwa Mashu turn-offs. The next turn-off after Kwa Mashu is the Umhlanga Rocks turn-off. At the traffic, turn to the right and head over the freeway, ignoring first turn to left to gateway, then taking second turn to left to the Umhlanga Rocks drive/La Lucia Ridge turn-off and then follow the attached map.
