Experience the beauty of the Hout Bay valley from the comfort of our majestic guest house which is situated in tranquil forest on the back slopes of Table Mountain. The guest house is isolated from the rush of everyday life, allowing you to unwind in tranquil surroundings where you can enjoy the many attractions that Hout Bay, and indeed the Cape Peninsula offers.

The accommodation is spacious, modern and tastefully decorated to a high standard and provides the perfect setting in which to relax. We boast a unique combination of sophistication and relaxation, blending the beauty and serenity of our forested, tranquil mountain paradise with comfort.

Three upstairs rooms, queen or twin bedded, with en suite bathroom, including separate bath & shower & opening balconies with magnificent mountain & forest views. Adjoining each room are specially designed, private opening balconies with comfortable recliners for soaking up the ambience. Rooms are equipped with Television and Coffee making facilities.

Our downstairs family room consists of 2 spacious adjoining rooms, one containing a queen bed & the other 2 separate twin beds, with shower & toilet facilities. There is also a wide approximately 1,5m dressing area running the length of both rooms & TV's in both bedrooms. Stable doors lead onto a patio and from here it is a short walk to our secluded pool lying in an amphitheater created by the surrounding mountains, offering stunning views & a sense "being at one with nature. The accommodation is spacious, modern and tastefully decorated to a high standard and provides the perfect setting in which to relax.

Ken's scrumptious full breakfast is served either in our sunny breakfast room or outside under the trees.

We offer a number of exquisite self catering accommodation units for our guests. From mountain side lodging to the lush surroundings of the valley and green forest, you will truly be captivated by the serene beauty and tranquility offered by this Hout Bay accommodation.

Sunbird Mountain Retreat boasts a unique combination of sophistication & relaxation, blending the beauty and serenity of our forested, tranquil mountain paradise with affordable comfort.

These units are one bed roomed units with en suite shower & toilet and open plan kitchen & lounge.

Our ground floor unit opens onto lush green lawn, with a sensation of space created by the not too distant "ring of mountains".

Our upstairs units sport unimpaired mountain & forest views & as they share a common entrance can be utilised by a family group as 1 large unit

All self catering units have a spacious, restful yet colourful feel, with themes taken from nature. The kitchens are tastefully equipped with 4 plate hobs, microwave ovens & combined fridge & freezer units. Neat clean cut bathrooms contain glass panel showers & offer magnificent forest & mountain vistas. Our upstairs units have a small sleeping loft containing one or two comfortable mattresses, most suitable for children 6 years & older.

There are open large balconies for relaxing, eating & sunbathing. As well as numerous outside sitting areas, a super area downstairs for braaing & a Koi pond under the trees.

The Retreat self catering apartments are a short walk ( 50 metres) from the main Guest House & the pool.

Our secluded pool lies in an amphitheater created by the surrounding mountains, offering stunning views & a sense "being at one with nature".

It is a short walk from here onto the mountains, to enjoy the many splendours that each season offers, ranging from the delicate Disa orchid to the bubbling waterfall & river.
