DescriptionThe lodge is family owned and managed. Set above the Great St Lucia Lake, on a coastal dune and with views of the lake, accommodation in the well appointed 16 garden rooms is provided on a bed & breakfast basis. The main building of the lodge is one of the original buildings erected in St Lucia and with its thatch oozes an old world Zululand charm. It houses the reception area; drawing room; art gallery, showcasing the best of the local artists and crafters, a small library for guests as well as the dining deck with views of the Great St Lucia Lake. Accommodation The lodge has 12 standard double/twin garden rooms as well as an interleading family unit, and two triple rooms. The rooms are decorated in a contemporary Afro-Colonial style and fitted with a bar fridge; wall safe; television; hairdryer and complimentary coffee and tea facilities. All the rooms are generously proportioned, offering full air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms (bath and separate shower). Each room has its own foliage shaded patio and private entrance. All the rooms overlook the sparkling pool or magnificent lodge gardens. Convenient on site parking is provided. For families traveling together Lidiko offers a cottage consisting of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge, dining room, private deck and a self contained kitchen. At Lidiko guests are accommodated in style and comfort and it is the ultimate destination for those seeking the best of both a beach and bush holiday or simply to escape for a sense of serenity. Lidiko Lodge is the ideal place from which to explore the surrounding game parks, unspoilt beaches and the wetlands.
FacilitiesThere is no need to leave the pool in order to get something to drink or snack on....it can be ordered from the pool. Browse through our art gallery, do birdwatching from the garden terraces or your own private patio. Feel free to read a book from our library.... Lidiko will gladly do all the bookings and arrangements for any activities you would like to participate in. On all the organized excursions you will be picked up at and returned to the Lodge. Lidiko Lodge will ensure that your holiday is hassle free. Lidiko Lodge is within 5 minutes walking distance of the forest walks, all the restaurants in the village, the Zulu craft market, the lake and a mere 3 km from the entrance to the Cape Vidal route as well as to the beaches. Lidiko Lodge is one of the most central lodges in the village of St Lucia. Lidiko has a laundry service as well as a baby sitting service. Lidiko can arrange any transfers. The pool area, surrounded by abundant gardens, rich in colours and fragrances is the perfect spot to sunbathe and relax, the sparkling waters of the pool inviting you to take a dip and refresh. DirectionsFrom Gauteng St Lucia is 620 km from Pretoria. Take the N4 highway to Maputo and just past Middelburg turn off to Hendrina and from there proceed to Ermelo, Piet Retief, Pongola and pass Mkuze and Hluhluwe on the N2 till you get to the Mtubtuba and St Lucia turn off to the left, onto the R618. After approximately 3 km you will reach a T-junction where you turn left, still on the R618, and proceed to St Lucia. From Durban St Lucia is 250 km from Durban. Follow the N2 north and turn of at Mtubathuba onto the R618. Follow the road signs to St Lucia. From Kruger Park via Swaziland Enter Swaziland ate the nearest border and exit at the Golela border gate.Follow the N2, pass Mkuze, Hluhluwe and turn of at Mtubatuba onto the R618. Follow the road signs to St Lucia. On entering the village Cross the bridge into St Lucia, turn right into McKenzie Street and carry on for 800m to where you will find us on the left.
