Auberge Bligny is an 1860 homestead in the historic centre of Franschhoek. It has 8 en-suite bedrooms with private entrances. There is a romantic honeymoon suite, family suites with interleading doors and a room equipped for disabled guests. A country breakfast is served - in summer on the terrace overlooking the pool and the mountains for which the village is famous.

With six restaurants in the top 100 of the country, there is a lot of truth in the saying that Franschhoek is the gourmet capital of the RSA. Some of these and numerous other excellent restaurants are within seven minutes? walk from the guest house.

Alternatively one could stroll to a wine farm for some wine, and on the way back stop at the formagerie for cheese and bread to enjoy at Auberge Bligny - the kitchen, dining room and pool area are always at the disposal of guests.

Jack, a descendant from the French Huguenots (who first settled in the valley) and Frieda invite you to use their charming guest house as a base from which to explore the Winelands and much of the Western Cape.

For example: Stellenbosch and Paarl are 20 minutes away, and Somerset West (the home of Vergelegen wines) and Robertson (renowned for high quality and reasonably priced wines) are 45 minutes from the guest house. Whale watching in Hermanus (90 minutes) is a pleasant day?s outing as is lunch at Paddagang in Tulbach over Bainskloof Pass. Cape Town (45 minutes) is within easy reach.

From Cape Town take N1 to Paarl, follow signs to Franschhoek. From Garden Route take N2, follow signs to Franschhoek. In Franschhoek turn out of Main Street in front of Town Hall - we're one block down.
