Description.... Tea? That came too. Smiling, warm faces are a given at the Stagger Inn and all those living and working on the estate exude a contagious enthusiasm for it. So here you are in the great outdoors with 25,000 acres of pristine wilderness at your beck and call. You can bird-watch, fish for large-mouth bass, swim in the weirs of clear spring water, go boating on the dams, do some clay-pigeon shooting and spot some of the fifteen species of antelope on game-drives (also lynx, jackal, genets, black eagles, fish eagles and vultures). Or you can just walk among the indigenous shrubs and wild flowers. Ruddy-faced and hungry from the fresh air and activities, guests cosy up by the blazing log fire before a hearty, healthy dinner of home-cooked produce fresh from the farm (cows, sheep, pigs, sawmill and a dairy). And then to bed, hunting-lodge-style in farmhouses with comfortable (rather than luxurious) rooms for a well-needed night’s sleep. As I discovered in the morning, the quality of light up here is a phenomenon, and the views breathtaking. The rolling ridge-country and grassy plains reach as far as the eye can see. Make sure you stay for long enough. A 6th generation working game and agriculture farm with accents on nature, and the outdoors, scenic and beautiful.Personally hosted by the owners, homecooked meals with culinary fair from the farm.
