Description

The guest house Gasthof Kroondal is 9 km east of Rustenburg, right next to the N4 highway between Rustenburg and Pretoria. With its unique architecture, it has been an outstanding landmark in this area, for many years.
This house was built in the middle of the village Kroondal, a German-speaking community.
In 1889, two German immigrants, decided to buy the farm Kroondal and started a German settlement on the Farm. Most of the new owners, immediately settled on the farm and difficult development work started. The irrigable land was divided; neglected fields and waterways have been restored and expanded. Dwellings were restored or newly built. This hard work was rewarded with success in the community, both in wealth and increased numbers.

In 1895 they decided to establish a school because of the growing numbers of children. In 1904, this residence was built as a Kinderheim (Boarding school).  In 1993 it was converted into a guesthouse by Erich and Betz Wenhold. There were four guest rooms and they offered wonderful entertainment, arts and crafts markets and small private functions.
