DescriptionSituated in the Fever Tree Forest on the banks of the Mzinene River, Zululand Tree Lodge is an oasis of luxury located in Maputaland - Northern KwaZulu Natal and forms part of the Ubizane Game Reserve. Only three hours drive from Durban.From the open wooden deck of your own tree house, listen to the wind gently sigh through the leaves of the surrounding Fever Tree Forest ... Leave at sunrise for an open Landrover game drive in the surrounding Ubizane Game Reserve; enjoy a bush breakfast, go on a game walk or horseback safari for a close-up view of this untamed wilderness teeming with wildlife. Enjoy a boma dinner and traditional Zulu dance performance by members of the local community. Or explore the nearby St. Lucia Wetland Park - home to more than 420 marine, wetland and forest birds. The Safari Lounge is ideal for small Senior Management Seminars and/or Think Tanks. Set in the cool, whispering tranquility of a fever tree forest, the Tree Lodge is a truly special retreat where you will be accommodated in luxurious stilted chalets. Ubizane Wildlife Reserve boasts a variety of game, including white rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, most species of antelope, and over 350 species of birdlife. You can view the game from the comfort of equipped game viewing land rovers, on foot for a more thrilling encounter or on horseback for a wonderfully unique experience. Adjacent to Ubizane Wildlife Reserve is the renowned Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Game Reserve, the oldest in Africa, where the big-5 (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard) roam the bush. Accommodation Accommodation at Zululand Tree Lodge consists of luxurious thatched chalets raised above the floor on stilts, set in the cool tranquility of a fever tree forest. Each of our 24 luxury "Tree Lodges" include an en-suite bathroom with shower, a double bed, a bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and a private balcony with enchanting views into the surrounding forest. All rooms are fitted with ceiling fans and insect nets, and are serviced daily by housekeeping. Dining Meals are served in the Boma, an outdoor, covered dining area that overlooks the fever tree forest and water hole. At night, log fires are lit creating a romantic, bush atmosphere. The pan-African cuisine offers a variety of dishes in buffet style and usually includes a venison dish amongst the choices of meat dishes. The breakfast buffet includes traditional fare as well as an array of locally grown fresh fruits, yoghurts and health cereals. For those who prefer to spend the day relaxing beside the swimming pool or with a book in our spacious lounge, a light lunch is available off the room service menu. FacilitiesConference
Facilities and services include: DirectionsSituated next to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve in Zululand, Ubizane Wildlife Reserve is only a 2.5 hour drive from Durban on the N2 Northbound. From Durban (276km) proceed on the N2 North, past Tongaat, Stanger, Empangeni, Mtubatuba to Hluhluwe. Take the Hluhluwe/Sodwana Bay off-ramp. It is also signposted Zululand Tree Lodge. At the top of the off-ramp turn left onto the P453. Travel a further 2.5km and you will see the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve’s entrance on your left.Rates
